9. Texas Tech Red Raiders: Chibuzo Agbo

A 9-9 conference record resulted in a third-place finish for Coach Beard and Texas Tech Basketball. Not only has the 2019-20 season come-and-gone, but it will be taking 6’8 senior T.J Holyfield to graduation and leading scorer 6’4 Jahmi’us Ramsey to the NBA Draft, where he is currently projected as a mid-first round selection. When you add senior Chris Clarke to that list, Coach Beard needs to replace a 30-minute guy and two mid-20-minute guys.

That is the negative, while the positive is that Coach Beard will be welcoming a top ten recruitment class that is tops in the Big12. The first of three recruits to be discussed for the Red Raiders on the potential impact list is number 82 in the rankings, 6’7 Chibuzo Agbo. Although at 6’8 Holyfield did play center and  seven-foot Russell Tchewa is in the transfer portal, Agbo will not be the starting center, that may very well go to transfer Marcus Santos-Silva,

There is an opportunity for Agbo to start instead of junior forward Kevin McCullar. At an inch shorter and 20 pounds lighter McCullar logged just 18 minutes a game, on a squad that was only seven deep. Agbo has a wide frame who is able to hit in rhythm jumpers, which causes defenders to have to respect his shot which allows him more room to be effective of the dribble. Agbo is not Texas Tech’s answer for Jahmi’us Ramsey’s departure (there is somebody else for that), he will however make more of an impact than Kevin McCullar in the starting line-up.
