Arizona Wildcats

After a lack of recruiting pickups during the season, Sean Miller went international in the offseason. There was a quartet of incoming foreigners, including four-star wing Bennedict Mathurin and under the radar prospect Tibet Gorener. Thanks to early NBA Draft entrants and transfers departing, there are some depth issues that Arizona isn’t usually accustomed to.

With Josh Green gone and Seattle U grad transfer Terrell Brown Jr. only around for another year, the Wildcats will need an experienced starter on the wing in case some of these international players don’t work out. They already have a pair of sit out transfers ready to go in James Akonjo and Jordan Brown but would they want to add a former mid-major star?

Auburn Tigers

It’s going to be a new-look Tigers squad next season, having to replace the team’s top six scorers from this past season. They have a couple of reserves ready for bigger roles, combined with a top-10 incoming recruiting class. Five-star point guard Sharife Cooper likely won’t be around by the time Olaniyi can play but other prospects JT Thor and Dylan Cardwell will be key building blocks for the future.

Outside of sharpshooter Devan Cambridge, Auburn is lacking in the wing area. Adding Olaniyi would solve that issue on the 2021-22 roster and his scoring ability would be an added benefit. This team knows the benefit of mid-major additions, just having former VCU guard Samir Doughty lead the team in scoring this past season.
