NCAA Basketball: 10 teams who should target Utah transfer Both Gach
Nevada Wolf Pack
Another head coach with experience of sending players to the NBA Draft is Steve Alford, currently in his second season with the Wolf Pack after a number of years at UCLA. He did great work with Louisiana Tech transfer Jalen Harris, who averaged nearly 22 ppg this past year. He’s likely staying in the draft, meaning that the top four scorers for the Wolf Pack are now gone.
It’s a new roster and era with Coach Alford, having Brown transfer guard Desmond Cambridge as the key piece on next season’s team. They also landed Wichita State ball-handler Grant Sherfield this offseason as well. But adding a former Pac-12 starter in Gach would be a coup signing for a program looking up at both Utah State and San Diego State currently.
New Mexico Lobos
As much production as Nevada lost this offseason, the Lobos lost even more. They lost every rotation player outside of Zane Martin and Makuach Maluach, both who are upcoming seniors. There are a ton of incoming prospects via both the JUCO and regular transfer markets, including former UNC point guard Jeremiah Francis.
The rebuild for head coach Paul Wier has done okay but they’re currently missing a proven D-I scorer. Even if he has to sit a season, Gach could be the focal point of New Mexico’s offense in 2021-22 in the Mountain West, making him a Player of the Year candidate. The last impact transfer from the Pac-12 was Malachi Flynn from Washington State, who became a future All-American and now likely 1st round NBA Draft pick.
