Utah State Aggies

The loss of former Mountain West Player of the Year Sam Merrill stings but big man Neemias Queta coming back for another year keeps the Aggies in league contention. He, double-double machine Justin Bean and rising senior wing Alphonso Anderson will be the featured pieces for next season, with Gach potentially being tbe replacement for Anderson the following year.

Both BYU and Utah State reached out but the Cougars roster doesn’t make sense for Gach to go there. If going home to Minnesota isn’t preferred, maybe staying in the Salt Lake area, albeit for a different program could be what he wants. Gach would have a massive role for up and coming head coach Craig Smith and a program overall that is developing stars.

Vanderbilt Commordores

Gach would love to have a season that Aaron Nesmith was having for the Commordores. He was avering 23 ppg in 14 games to start the year on the perimeter before an injury derailed both him and the team. He and Saben Lee are now gone but will be replaced by Notre Dame transfer wing DJ Harvey and a sophomore version of Scottie Pippen Jr.

Head coach Jerry Stackhouse is trying to add talent to Vanderbilt via the transfer portal and hopes to attract players such as Gach with his own story about his NBA career and coach at the G League. With both Gach and Stackhouse having similar skills, it could be a perfect match when it comes to getting the player ready for the professionials. But would the lack of potential wins and postseason play scare him off?

Stats aside, Gach may be the player currently in the portal with the highest level of pro potential. But i’ll take the right coach and opporunity to pull it out of him. Which team, from this specific list or outside, presents that? It will be interesting to see how this process plays out.
