Detroit Mercy Titans

As a Detroit, Michigan native, the local options could be very appealing for Tillman to consider if he has to sit out a season. The obvious candidates would be Michigan and Michigan State but recent news seems to have each out of the running. The Wolverines landed Wake Forest transfer wing Chaundee Brown and the Spartans may be getting back Joshua Langford, who missed all of last year with injuries.

Another option is Detroit, who has head coach Mike Davis and son Antoine Davis, who averaged over 24 ppg this past season. He’d be a senior along with Tillman and would be a duo capable of winning the Horizon League in the 2021-22 season while playing close to home. This may be a step down in competition but it’d also be a guaranteed place for him to start and thrive.

Illinois Illini

Of all of the Big Ten programs who could use Tillman’s services, it would be the Illini and their current hole at the three-spot. With Ayo Dosunmu, Trent Frazier and Andres Feliz all gone after next year, there will be major questions as to where the scoring production will come from.

Even if for just one season, Tillman would be a double-digit contributor to plug in and take the pressure off of the underclassmen guards. The 2021 class for Illinois could go of many ways, with multiple five-star prospects in play. Whether any of them ultimately comes to the team, a safer bet for just one season would be of benefit.
