1. Stanford Cardinal – Ziaire Williams

Stanford Basketball is going to be depleted at point-guard, with senior Isaac White (4.2 PPG) transferring and Tyrell Terry (14.6 PPG, 4.5 RPG) projecting as a late first-round to early second-round selection in the upcoming NBA Draft. Jerod Haase’s recruitment class which is ranked second-highest in the Pac-12 will not fill that hole with Noah Taitz, but when you have Ziaire Williams, a consensus top 5 recruit you will make due.

Coach Haase does not need to worry too much about the point-guard position as Daejon Davis looks primed to take that role and drastically improve upon his almost nine points and four assists per game. The by-product will be a spot for Bryce Willis in the back-court and then 6’7-175 pound Williams from Sierra Canyon can start at small forward.

As a third ballhandler in the frontcourt, Williams is going to be a weapon. His passing ability into the interior is phenomenal, having played with BJ Boston who would post up smaller guards regularly, Williams is comfortable with that pass.

Add the fact that he is ‘money’ from mid-range, whether it is spotting up or if he is keeping his defender off balance with a quick release off the dribble. Either way, he is making that shot. Williams is going to be a difficult assignment for anybody to stop in the Pac-12 and beyond. He will be the Pac-12 Rookie of the Year, and in the discussion with Cade Cunningham in the Big 12 for USBWA Freshman of the Year.
