13. Oregon Ducks – Jalen Terry

A great season for Oregon Basketball abruptly came to a halt during Pac-12 Player of the Year Payton Pritchard’s senior year. Dana Altman is hoping he can bring the Ducks back to the top of the Pac-12 and perhaps even improve on their 13-5 conference record. It will be no easy task without the services of Payton and his averages of over 20 points, 4 rebounds, and three assists.

Aside from losing their best player at the most important position, the 2020-21 Ducks will also be without the services of starters Anthony Mathis (8.5 PPG) and Shakur Juiston (7.9 PPG). In addition, Juiston’s back-up Francis Okoro is transferring leaving a big hole at power forward.

Coach Altman however, focused on replacing Pritchard with 6’1 Jalen Terry from Beecher High School in Missouri. Terry should get a substantial opportunity at the point while not having the offensive responsibility that Pritchard had. Having incoming transfer Eric Willims Jr in the backcourt will allow Terry to use his dribble to create space in order to get his average mid-range shot off or to create a better passing lane.

Nobody will mistake Terry for Pritchard as he is more of a ball-dominant point guard, who is not much of a threat beyond the arc. Terry will need to demonstrate his ability to guard the ball as he did at Beecher. If not, come the 2021-22 season UNLV transfer Amauri Hardy, will be the point guard for the Oregon Ducks.
