Duke Blue Devils

While Auburn and Texas Tech are certainly programs on the rise with great coaches of their own, we’re getting into proven blue blood territory now. There’s something different about the appeal of playing for one of college basketball’s signature programs.

Duke offers that along with the chance to play for a living legend in Mike Krzyzewski, who has proven many times over that he’s one of the best coaches ever. Since fully embracing the one-and-done model, Coach K has successfully merged the appeal of playing for him at a school like Duke alongside other elite NBA talent.

All Coach K has to do is point to Zion Williamson to show what the Blue Devils can offer Kuminga. Almost overnight, Williamson went from YouTube sensation to household name because of the platform and visibility provided to him by Duke. He had the skills to back it up, obviously, but Kuminga does, too.

And for as much as “The Brotherhood” is mocked by Duke haters and detractors, there is something to be said for the appeal of having such a tight-knit group of NBA alumni to a high school prospect trying to make it there. Duke isn’t the only school with this, obviously, but they certainly flaunt it the most.

Plus, the Blue Devils offer the chance to play in one of the biggest rivalries in all of sports (Duke-UNC) and play in a classic arena like Cameron Indoor Stadium.
