UCLA Bruins

If we’re looking at the current roster of the Bruins, it makes sense why a talented shooting guard would have a big interest in joining. They only had one scorer who reached double figures this past season in Chris Smith, who’ll be gone either this offseason or the next to the pros. And with five-star guard Dashien Nix picking the G league instead of UCLA, Coach Mick Cronin needs to find scoring help going forward.

He may have already found some, with four-star guard Jaylen Clark part of next season’s team. Then there’s top-50 shooting guard Will McClendon, along with Kentucky transfer Johnny Juzang after sitting out the 2020-21 campaign. All of them will compete with potentially Love on the wings, while Coach Cronin’s offense isn’t suited for offensive-minded players.

Villanova Wildcats

The Wildcats didn’t bring in anyone from either the portal or from high school for next season. That’s because not only did they return everyone from the Co-Big East regular-season champions, they also will have a healthy Bryan Antoine (former five-star prospect from 2019 who was hurt all this past year) and has Tulane sit-out transfer Caleb Daniels added to the rotation as well.

Regardless of what happens next season, Villanova is going to lose a ton of production on the roster, including star guard Collin Gillespie, Saddiq Bey and big man Jeremiah Robinson-Earl. Don’t overlook 6’4 sophomore guard Justin Moore having a major season and going pro early as well.

Along with top-100 big man commit Nnanna Njoku, Love would be a great pickup for the Wildcats and Coach Jay Wright. But he has made it clear that if someone isn’t ready to join the rotation, they’ll sit the entire season, as exampled by what happened with Jahvon Quinerly. Love will have to be prepared for whatever happens if he joins Villanova and rolls with the punches.
