NCAA Basketball: Breaking down transfer Mac McClung final 7 teams

This seems like a really good fit for McClung but there’s a lot of work that needs to be done to make this happen. Beard has a great track record for getting his guards to the NBA, most recently Jarrett Culver and Zhaire Smith. McClung is returning to school after testing the draft water and since the goal for McClung is to get to the next level, the Red Raiders have to be an appealing option.

McClung would be joining Wichita State transfer guard Jamarius Burton in sitting out for the next season. The Red Raiders boast a top 10 recruiting class for 2020 based on 24/7 rankings and will have VCU big Marcus Santos-Silva as a graduate transfer.

There have been quite a few Texas Tech alumni and current players that reached out to McClung on Twitter including the NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes. Texas Tech and their fan base really want to see McClung in Lubbock.

Texas Tech is also in the top five for the number one prospect in the class of 2021 with Jonathan Kuminga and of course, will have their attention on him potentially reclassifying.

Texas Tech seems like a great option, the Red Raiders are establishing themselves as one of the best teams the Big 12 and adding in a veteran guard would be good for the program. Beard is a great coach and McClung has the potential to really develop under him at Texas Tech.
