Tulsa Hurricanes

Tulsa’s roster and production were similar to ETSU’s having no clear-cut lead guard but multiple rotational contributors. The team’s assist leader Elijah Joiner will be a senior next year, along with returning assets, Darien Jackson and Brandon Rachal. The Hurricanes will have a big need for an experienced guard in the following season to remain competitive in the AAC and not take a step back.

If Williamson were to choose Tulsa, his role (and team’s expectations) will be determined by the future play of current sit-out transfers Keyshawn Embery-Simpson and Curtis Haywood Jr. If they can have huge seasons off the ball, Williamson will be surrounded by good talent capable of making a run in the AAC. Otherwise, this team will have to find even more transfers going forward.

Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Some of these programs make compelling arguments for Williamson but it’s clear that Wake Forest makes the most sense. Not only would he be reunited with his coach Steve Forbes but he would essentially return back home to Winston-Salem.

The team also is in huge need of finding talent, with the top four scorers now gone. The recent de-commitment of three-star point guard Marcus Watson gives them urgency in landing another ball-handler. Bringing in one such as Williamson already familiar with Forbe’s system would help speed up the rebuilding job that the Demon Deacons is going through.

With location and the head coach both in favor of Wake Forest, it’ll be really hard to envision Daivion Williamson not going anywhere else. But if he does opt to go to one of the four other options, look for western programs BYU and San Diego State to be contenders as well.
