Two of the nation’s best teams may have to battle for the pre-season top spot in Big 12 Basketball.

Despite finishing the season a practically the unanimous #1 team in the country, Kansas looks to be second in the preseason rankings so far.

Baylor looks like the team to beat in 2020-21 but this is all dependent on who keeps their name in the NBA Draft.

Kansas is expected to lose Devon Dotson, but a shocking return to campus would skyrocket the Jayhawks up everyone’s rankings. Most believe that Jared Butler and Macio Teague will return to Waco for a revenge tour that runs into April.

I can’t remember the last time Kansas wasn’t the favorite to win the Big 12 regular-season title. There’s still a sliver of hope for Jayhawk fans, say Dotson pulls his name from the Draft, but it’s a small sliver.

As things stand now and both Butler and Teague return to college for another year. Gonzaga in my opinion would be the only team with a claim to stand ahead of them in national pre-season polls.
Only time will help us get closer to answering these questions. College basketball fans can just sit back and hope that their favorite players from last year shock the NBA world and return to collegiate play.
