Jordan Bohannon’s Return

Jordan Bohannon shared an emotional moment with the Hawkeye fan base as he left the floor at Hilton Coliseum at the end of an 84-68 road rivalry win over the Iowa State Cyclones. Playing the beginning of that season with a nagging hip injury, Bohannon went into that December 12th game knowing it would be his last of the season.

Per NCAA’s medical hardship requirements, a player is only allowed to play ten games maximum before burning a potential redshirt possibility. The Hawkeye point guard left the floor by leaving and signing his shoes with “To ISU: Thanks for the Memz :)”. Iowa fans will forever love Bohannon for playing through such a major injury just to be out there on the floor with his teammates.

Not only is Iowa bringing back their entire starting five, but they are adding a guy in Bohannon who missed the majority of the season.  In school history, Bohannon holds the all-time record for career three-pointers and ranks sixth all-time in career assists. It is incredible for the Hawkeyes to be able to add a guy like that after being ranked for the rest of the season beginning on January 22nd.

Coming off of hip surgery, Bohannon won’t have to be entirely counted on. The Hawkeyes are also bringing back rising sophomore point guard Joe Toussaint, whom Maryland star guard Anthony Cowan told NCAA’s Andy Katz was his toughest opponent to guard. This experience will prove valuable for the Hawkeyes, and will also lighten the load for Bohannon.

Jordan Bohannon provides experience, star power, and ability to have depth for the Iowa Hawkeyes. The fact that he is coming back for a fifth and final season cannot be undervalued.
