NCAA Basketball: 10 teams who should target transfer Justyn Mutts

With the news that star guard Fatts Russell is coming back for a final season, the Rams now have to take advantage to have another top-4 campaign in the Atlantic 10. They did lose a number of transfers this offseason, most notably Jacob Toppin and Tyrese Martin. The good news for the team is that there are four incoming transfers, including guards Malik Martin and Allen Betrand, along with former Maryland bigs Makhi and Makhel Mitchell.

Since there is a real possibility that none of those four will be eligible for at least the first half of the season, adding someone who can come in and perform right out the gate from the frontcourt is needed. Jermaine Harris and Antwan Walker provide the only depth down low at the moment and neither rebounds as well as Mutts can.

Temple Owls

The top four contributors for the Owls are now gone, with leading rebounder Nate Pierre-Louis going pro. With he and star guard Quinton Rose out of the picture, the team only has J.P. Moorman as a capable returning frontcourt asset. They do have Wisconsin transfer Tai Strickland ready to go after sitting out a season, while offseason pickups Khalif Battle and Sage Tolbert are each looking for waivers to play next year.

Tolbert, a 6’8 forward who averaged 9.6 ppg and 7.0 rpg at Southeast Missouri State could add some real frontcourt depth if eligible to play. Mutts would be a good addition to have in the case that doesn’t happen and would still be a rotational piece for a rebuilding Temple squad. Considering that the geography adds up as well, there may be a shot that this could work.
