AAC Basketball: Top 15 impact players from 2020 recruiting class
5. AAC Basketball recruit rankings – Isaiah Adams (Central Florida)
Despite being named Florida’s Mr. Basketball, Isaiah Adams will enter the 2020-21 season ranked 223 nationally and number 18 from Florida by MaxPreps. The 6’6 small forward had a sensational season at Paxon and is more than ready to start for the Knights.
During his senior season at Paxson, Adams averaged 23.7 points per game but did not do so in typical fashion. Throughout history, the players with the best stats simply dominated the game and overpowered inferior competition, but Adams played within the offense and capitalized on opportunities.
A lot of those opportunities came off the swing as he was able to drive in traffic and get quality looks at the rim. The added benefit of being 6’8 in high school is that defensively he would guard the center position. Combine that with being talented enough to play anywhere in the frontcourt, he has a keen awareness of several positions on the floor which makes him versatile.
With the graduation of 6’4 Matt Milon (6.2 PPG), Coach Johnny Dawkins needs to be very excited about the idea of placing Adams in the starting line-up. With four of the five members of the AAC All-Freshman team being guards, Adams will be part of a more traditional looking team.
