AAC Basketball: Top 15 impact players from 2020 recruiting class
3. AAC Basketball recruit rankings – Tramon Mark (Houston)
Not only does Houston Basketball have the best recruiting class in the AAC, but they are also looking to become the sole regular-season champion. Contributing to both those goals is 6’6 Tramon Mark. In his senior year at Dickinson High School, he captained his team to a 12-0 district record and did plenty of scoring along the way.
Currently the four-star small forward is ranked 82 nationally by Rivas.com and ranked 71 by ESPN, off the strength of his 29.3 points, 3.7 assists, 6.4 rebounds, and 2.2 steals per game. The potential impact of Texas’ second-ranked recruit is only tempered due to the projected return of Dejon Jarreau after testing the NBA Draft waters, but with Nate Hinton signing with an agent, room has opened up.
At 180 pounds he has room to fill out to be able to play the small forward position and become a quality third ball handler. A lot of his points came from being able to face up and get space between him and the defender. Due to his shooting guard experience in high school, he is visually aware to be able to make the proper pass but adept at letting the game come to him as he played with ball-dominant guards in high school.
Defensively he is more likely to go for a block than effectively guard the perimeter, something that will need to change if he is going to get 20 plus minutes. Mark has the making of an AAC All-Freshman team member this year and breakout player for 2021-22.
