2. AAC Basketball recruit rankings – Caleb Murphy (South Florida)

South Florida Basketball needs a shooting guard and more wins after finishing 7-11 in the AAC. In order to do so, they went all the way to Georgia to get 6’4 Caleb Murphy. Luckily for Coach Brian Gregory, Murphy chose the Bulls over 25 other schools, including the likes of Wake Forest, Xavier, and in-state universities Georgia and Georgia Tech. Coach Gregory must have promised him the vacant starting spot in the backcourt.

Currently ranked 61 nationally by rivals.com Murphy is a supremely confident ball handler, despite not being the primary ballhandler at Grayson High School. He proved at times to be virtually unguardable by high school players as he could push the fast break for easy buckets. These easy buckets would come in the form of his preferred finishes at the rim or above it with finger rolls and dunks.

Although he does not tend to create his own shots, that particular aspect is restricted to field goals, for he is always looking to create an ‘and one’ situation and put himself on the free-throw line. Caleb Murphy is going to score a lot of points for South Florida this season and might end up AAC Rookie of the Year, even though he is not as skilled as the next player.
