1. AAC Basketball recruit rankings – Jamal Shead (Houston)

Getting playing time at point guard for Houston Basketball is not an easy feat, but Jamal Shead is not only good enough to get playing time but good enough to make an impact in the AAC as well. The 6’1, four-star point guard is ranked as the number six recruit in Texas by 247sports and will be competing with junior Marcus Sasser (8.1 PPG,1.7 APG) at point guard, as 2020-21 eligible transfer Cameron Tyson (13.5 PPG, 0.8 APG) is a  great compliment at shooting guard.

While at Manor High School Shea played both positions in the backcourt and some small forward,  point guard is where Coach Kevin Sampson would be best advised to use him. Shead’s ability to penetrate the defense and dish are the point guard skills that will put Shead in a starting role. He is able to take his defender off the dribble, yet if given room, he can rise up and hit a three-point shot. Whereas Sasser and Tyson can do either or, Shead can do both.

With a quick release, a great assist-to-turnover ratio by being able to hit the open man, it will not be long until Shead is running the point for the Cougars.
