AAC Basketball: Top 15 impact players from 2020 recruiting class
12. AAC Basketball recruit rankings – Gabe Madsen (Cincinnati)
Hard work will earn you an opportunity, and for some players, an opportunity is all they will need to make an impact. Cincinnati Basketball knows they will not have starters; Jarron Cumberland (15.5 PPG, 5 APG)) and Tre Scott (11.4 PPG, 10.5 RPG) for the 2020-21 campaign. along with backup point guard Jaevin Cumberland (8.8 PPG). Coach John Brannen should expect Keith Williams to return once he has tested the NBA Draft waters and have him as they welcome the third-ranked AAC recruiting class.
The first of those three recruits is 6’5 combo guard Gabe Madsen from Mayo Senior in Rochester Minnesota. If Coach Brannen chooses to keep giving Keith Williams substantial minutes at the small forward position, it will leave just Zach Harvey for Madsen to leapfrog as the starting off-guard.
Madsen should not expect to start as the season begins, but he will only have to start building his way, as we will get no less than 10 minutes per game to start the season. At 6’6 and just 180 pounds, his above-average ball-handling skills as a small forward become average ball-handling skills for an off-guard. His effectiveness off the dribble does allow him to be able to stop and pop from free to three, while he has a great catch-and-shoot from beyond the arc. Expect Madsen to be able to tally up points quickly as he becomes the best three-point option on the Bearcats.
