AAC Basketball: Top 15 impact players from 2020 recruiting class
11. AAC Basketball recruit rankings – Chaunce Jenkins (Wichita State)
At the conclusion of his senior season, Chaunce Jenkins’ high school team was ranked No. 28 in Virginia with a 17-1 record in the Peninsula Basketball League. The 6’4 shooting guard will be stepping into a different situation when he steps onto the floor at Charles Koch Arena with his Wichita State Basketball teammates.
With both backcourt starters transferring, there might be a time-sharing scenario between Jenkins and fellow freshman Council IV. There is reason to believe that Jenkins will get the majority of the minutes, at least early in the season.
With Menchville, Jenkins demonstrated great leaping ability that allowed him to get points strictly off his athleticism. When playing off the ball he would slash to the basket and have the power to finish at the rim. Rivals.com has Jenkins ranked No. 33 at his position and his trajectory was rising as the season came to a halt.
The three-star recruit will be able to find the room he needs in the AAC in order to help the Shockers improve upon there 11-7 record, despite losing their three leading scorers. The ball will need to be in somebody’s hands, and Coach Marshall can turn to the fourth-ranked AAC recruitment class just as easily as anybody else.
