Finalist for Frank Anselem – Georgia Bulldogs

After losing star players Anthony Edwards and Rayshaun Hammonds, the Bulldogs were in huge need of adding as much talent as possible this offseason. They’ve done a good job in the transfer portal, landing three key grad transfers. Guard Justin Kier, high-scoring wing Andrew Garcia and former Virginia Tech forward PJ Horne will provide needed depth for next season.

One position that hasn’t been taken care of is center, still without a true “five-man” on the projected roster. Georiga is a finalist for class of 2020 and five-star center prospect Moussa Cisse but they’re a clear underdog for him, who also decides this week. Anselem would get a lot of minutes as a freshman and takes care of the biggest positional weakness the team currently has.

Finalist for Frank Anselem – New Mexico Lobos

With nearly a double-digit player roster turnover, the 2020-21 Lobos squad will look vastly different compared to last season. If UNC point guard transfer Jeremiah Francis gets a waiver to play next year, the team could be a surprise factor in the Mountain West. That would be even more true if Anselem joins the program, who would be a major high school pickup for head coach Paul Weir.

New Mexico does have JUCO newcomer Assane Ndiaye joining the team but those players can be 50/50 in terms of the kind of impact. And Anselem himself would have four years of eligibility instead of two. But with an even better Mountain West program in the running and two power conference opponents to deal with, the Lobos are in a tough spot to win this recruiting battle.
