Finalist for transfer Both Gach – Creighton Bluejays

Creighton is the third and final school that is somewhat near Gach’s hometown, although it does not qualify as a return home nearly as much as Iowa State or Minnesota.

Of course, Creighton is also a much better club than either of them, having gone 24-7 last season and winning the Big East. So, while he probably wouldn’t get the waiver, Gach would have a real opportunity to compete for a final four run in his two seasons of eligibility spanning 2021-2023.

Creighton has been active this offseason after losing guard Ty-Shon Alexander to the NBA and a pair of guards, Davion Mintz and Jalen Windham, to the transfer market.

Their big fish was Alex O’Connell, a former top-70 recruit who averaged 4.3 points per game in three years at Duke before joining the Jayhawks this offseason as a graduate transfer. They also added a pair of international recruits, Modestas Kancleris and Rati Andronikashvili, leaving them with just the one remaining scholarship for Gach, if he chooses to take it.

Gach would fit in nicely on a Creighton team with a very balanced scoring attack, as his athleticism and ability to also rebound and dish out the ball (he had a triple-double early last season) will be a big boost for this team’s depth.

Of course, Creighton struggled on the defensive side of the floor, an area Gach needs to work on as well, so that would be something for Blue Jays fans to be cautious of.

Still, the team fit is there, and Gach would be a nice contributor to a team that is expected to do big things in the next few years under coach Greg McDermott.
