ACC Basketball breakout candidate – Dereon Seabron (NC State)

With some solid players returning from last year’s squad and a recruiting class that oozes with athleticism and boom potential, depth already seems like a serviceable advantage for the Wolfpack next year. Rounding out the squad after redshirting last year, NC State fans must feel excited with Dereon Seabron, who thanks to a famous highlight tape earned the nickname “The Ungaurdable,” also now ready to contribute to that depth.

As an incredibly gifted athlete, Seabron possesses a jaw-dropping vertical and rare ball-handling skills for a 6’7 player acclimated mostly to the forward position. Seabron’s physical tools poise to help him defensively as well, allowing him to materialize as a balanced product with a chance to do some truly special things while wearing red and white next year.

Seabron’s raw athleticism also improves his chances to make his way into the starting five. As a “swiss army knife” player, Seabron boasts an ability to play any position on the court. If not named as a starter initially, Seabron highlights the roster as the only plug with the ability to patch up any hole potentially eroding at the team. This names Seabron as the answer to almost any future problem potentially awaiting head coach Kevin Keatts.

Aside from this, Seabron also appears as a genuine candidate likely to become a fan favorite early on. Once more thanks to his athleticism, Seabron dunks with ferocity likely to draw incendiary cheers from those watching each night. Although removed from playing before Wolfpack fans last year, he still managed to entertain them, winning a dunk contest at Reynolds Coliseum by leaping over teammates Chase Graham and Braxton Beverly just prior to the last season’s commencement.

With all that considered, a narrative ending with Seabron as perhaps NC State’s most feared player feels very realistic for next year.
