NCAA Basketball power rankings – Florida State Seminoles

The best team in the ACC last season wasn’t Duke, UNC, or Virginia. Instead, it was the Seminoles, despite not having a single player who averaged more than 13 ppg on the roster. The 12-man rotation filled with size and athletes can take its toll on any opponent in a 40-minute matchup, even if there isn’t a clear-cut star on the team.

Head coach Leonard Hamilton is hoping to utilize the same strategy, with a mixture of talented newcomers and rotation players set to breakout. They won’t have leading scorer Devin Vassell, forward Patrick Williams and point guard Trent Forest but does have five-star point forward Scottie Barnes and top-tier JUCO shooting guard Sardaar Calhoun. Both should be impact players capable of replacing the production of both Vassel and Forest.

As far as the returning players go, MJ Walker will be the biggest game. He’s the lone double-digit scorer coming back and the 6’5 guard has the ability to be a go-to offensive player each night. The consistency has to be there from him to make sure the Seminoles have enough scoring.

Other players to expect a leap from includes Anthony Polite, Malik Osborne, Raiquan Gray and sophomore center Balsa Koprivica. The 7’0 big man has the potential to be an All-ACC big man and will have the opportunity to do so. Florida State will have the depth for sure but needs Walker or Barnes to be an elite playmaker to maximize the overall offense.
