NCAA Basketball power rankings – Kansas Jayhawks

Losing both Devon Dotson and Udoka Azubuike aren’t just massive offensive losses to the Jayhawks but also on the defensive end. Yet still, there are a pair of elite defenders remaining in Marcus Garrett and Ochai Agbaji. They each are some of the most versatile athletes in all of college basketball, with Garrett capable of playing some point guard as well. That’ll be important in case incoming five-star guard Bryce Thompson isn’t ready to carry the load on Day 1.

With former Louisville commit Jay Scrubb off to the NBA, that makes Tyon Grant-Foster the top incoming JUCO transfer, according to 247sportsComposite. He hasn’t had nearly the same amount of exposure and fanfare as Scrubb but the 6’7 guard is capable of playing multiple positions and be an elite scorer. Looking at the roster, he may have to be the leading scorer for Kansas Basketball if they’re going to be a Final Four contender.

The frontcourt has some questions but David McCormack shouldn’t be one of them. His playing time was limited due to not being able to play with Azubuike on the court but he’s now the starting center and is an obvious breakout candidate. He’ll be joined by any number of forwards, including Christian Braun, Tristan Enaruna, Mitch Lightfoot and Jalen Wilson. And while most have given up on him, maybe Silvio De Sousa can give Kansas Basketball something in his final season.
