9. NCAA Basketball state of Indiana power rankings – IUPUI

IUPUI dealt with uncertainty at the Head Coaching position in 2019-20. Head Coach Jason Gardner was fired in August and Byron Rimm stepped in on an interim basis. The Jaguars finished 7-25 and still are without a permanent coach for next season.

8. NCAA Basketball state of Indiana power rankings – Evansville

Exactly zero programs went through what Evansville went through last season. The Aces started 9-4, went into Rupp Arena and beat Kentucky, Head Coach Walter McCarty was fired for misconduct, and they lost their last 19 games.

That’s a lot for new Coach Todd Lickliter to walk into, which he did midway through last season. It gets tougher, however, for Lickliter. Leading scorer Deandre Williams (15.2 Pts, 6.9 Reb, 2.7 Ast) announced his transfer shortly after an exit in round one of the Missouri Valley Conference tourney and there isn’t much left.

The hope in Evansville is that former top 50 guard and Kansas transfer, Sam Cunliffe can add to his 11.2 pts and 4.1 reb average from a season ago. If Cunliffe can’t make his senior year a special one, Lickliter and the Aces might be in for another rough season.
