Head Coach Greg Lansing did work within the transfer portal in a very complicated offseason. The signing of Grad Transfer guards Randy Miller (NC Central) and Tobias Harris (Towson), both double-digit scorers for other mid-major programs in 2019-20 are huge. They should each start immediately, and look like perfect complementary additions next to leading scorer Tyreke Key (15.6 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 1.7 apg). That trio could be the best backcourt in the Missouri Valley Conference.

The Sycamores frontcourt is going to be good too. Jake Laravia (9.4 ppg, 5.9 rpg ,1.6apg) and Tre Williams (7.2 ppg, 4.2 rpg. 9 apg) are both back to control the boards in Terre Haute and really balance this team out. They can score without having any sets run for them and that works well for Lansing as he runs a guard-oriented offense.

With the exception of Key, there isn’t an all-conference player on this roster but the balance and depth is as good as anyone in its league. Cooper Neese (7.3 ppg, 2.5 bpg, 1.2 apg), who transferred from Butler before he even played a game is coming off of a good sophomore campaign that the coaching staff knew he was capable of. If the 3-point shooter and high flyer can take the next step, Indiana State will challenge Loyola and Northern Iowa in the MVC.

Prediction: #4 in MVC and Post Season Birth
