Expectations for Hunter Woods in 2020-21 season

At this point, Elon is going to consider it a win if they have a winning record and can be competitive in the Colonial. As mentioned, the way the Phoenix ended the season last year was positive momentum and something to build on as the season starts next year. The Phoenix has only been able to record four overall winning seasons in their Division I history. So that is why expectations of a winning record and a competitive conference record are going to be something to build on.

Woods is paired with another Hunter in the backcourt who also happens to be a sophomore. Hunter McIntosh was the point guard for the Phoenix last year and much like Woods he also started and played the lion share of the minutes for Elon a season ago. The Phoenix has a great core to build around and Elon and head coach Schrage are in a great position to meet their goals this year.

Woods is going to be one of the players to watch for this year, especially regarding all-conference honors as well as player of the year. Player of the year may be tough considering the overall talent that is present in the Colonial, but Woods is not going to make it easy for anyone to win this award. Woods is primed for a breakout and he has the highest ceiling of any player on the roster. He also has the most positive momentum as anyone and is playing with a ton of confidence given the way he individually played at the end of the year.

Hunter Woods has put Elon in good hands and their fans and players are expecting to have one of the best seasons they have had at the Division I level. Elon has some of the best returning talent in the league and a top-half finish is a very reasonable expectation.
