Big East Basketball breakout candidate – Justin Moore (Villanova)

Saddiq Bey is off to the NBA, but don’t feel bad for Jay Wright whose team finished ranked 10th in the country and were 24-7 when the season ended, the Wildcats literally return everyone who played at least 10 games last season. Five of those eight players are either freshmen or sophomores, so even though their best player is off to the pros, Villanova will be just fine.

One of those freshmen looking to take a big leap in his second season is guard Justin Moore. Moore finished the year third on the team in scoring with 11.3 per game and started 18 of the 31 games he played. He shot nearly 42% from the field and was almost nearly as good from the three-point line where he shot nearly 41%.

The 6-4 guard also added three rebounds and just under two assists per game and his quick first step and his ability to get to the basket with his ability to step out beyond the arc gives him a leg up on defenders, if they give him too much room he will knock down a jumper, but if they guard him too close he can blow by them to the rim. Expect Villanova to be very good again next season and Moore is a guy who could really burst on to the scene.
