22. The Basketball Tournament power rankings – Mid American Unity

Actual Ranking: #20 – Round of 24 Matchup: #13 Team CP3 on July 4th

For the fans of any teams in the MAC college basketball conference, this is probably your team to root for. Additionally, for any big Lebron James fans, you have a valid reason to root for this team as well. As one of 3 Akron alums on the roster, Romeo Travis looks to lead Mid American Unity to at least one more TBT upset win. He’s well known for being a former high school teammate with Lebron at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, but what shouldn’t be missed is that he was the 2007 MAC player of the Year and is a veteran presence who has had a solid career overseas.

A pair of former Kent State teammates Carlton Guyton and Chris Evans are nice additions as well. This is a team composed of veterans that have had long and successful overseas career and are still continuing their success today. Without many big names on the roster, they were well overlooked in their first year last year.

They easily took down the hyped-up Wisconsin alumni team, looking like a much better team from start to finish. In the next round, they were right there with the Dayton alumni team (ranked #8 this year) as they lost 80-78 off a putback dunk. They were unfazed by the competition and the Dayton home crowd last year, and they look to continue their momentum on a run that they probably felt ended too soon in 2019.
