Expectations for Azar Swain in 2020-21

Yale has never had a long-sustained period of basketball glory. They have had their years and they have even won an NCAA tournament game when they were able to knock off Baylor in 2015-2016. The Bulldogs are currently experiencing their best run in school history. The Bulldogs were likely going to make the NCAA tournament this season before the shutdown as a result of the global pandemic. The Bulldogs have a loaded roster coming back next season, so they are looking at potentially their third Ivy League regular-season crown in a row.

It has been mentioned how good Swain is and he is one of the best players in the Ivy League.

Entering the year, he is going to one of the favorites for the Ivy League Player of the Year and the biggest competition for the award comes from his teammate. Forward Paul Atkinson is the reigning player of the year in the Ivy and he returns to defend that crown, but the forward would gladly move aside to let Swain capture the award, especially if it meant another Ivy regular-season crown.

Yale is a team that is going to give the power schools they play a scare. They should win the Ivy again and may win it going away as they did two seasons ago. Yale has the best roster, but their head coach James Jones has found a winning formula and with his roster and his coaching philosophies have set Yale apart from the rest of their counterparts.

Expect the Bulldogs to finish at the top of the Ivy League, expect Yale to make the NCAA tournament, and expect Swain to crush the spirits of many teams throughout the year.
