NCAA Basketball: Analyzing 2021 wing Matthew Cleveland’s final 5 schools

Florida State Seminoles
The Noles were one of the first teams to extend an offer to Cleveland at the end of 2018 and the relationship has run deep since the start. Having visited the campus twice during his recruitment, the top-30 wing has liked what he’s seen from the program. Leonard Hamilton has a strong track record in player development and has sent five players to the NBA since 2016.
Expected to lose nearly half of the roster following the 2020-21 season, Cleveland’s potential arrival couldn’t come at a better time. His scoring prowess will be a welcome addition for a team likely to be short on scoring talent. The Seminoles are a physical program and love to grind teams out on both ends of the floor, which falls right into Cleveland’s wheelhouse.
He’s likely to command a bigger share of the offense than most players are usually accustomed to going through the program. Florida State shares the ball fairly well and has a balanced scoring rotation. Despite their size and physicality, the Noles stand to vastly benefit from Cleveland’s rebounding talents.
While the team will look to rebuild the roster prior to the 2021 season, Hamilton is in for a big recruiting cycle. 4-star guard Bryce McGowens has already committed to the program and the team is in good standing with 5-star guards Jalen Warley and JD Davison and top-5 forward Michael Foster Jr. There is a lot of potential here for Cleveland to experience success in the college game, while also strongly positioning himself for a leap to the next level.
