Big Ten Basketball: Analyzing each program’s 2020 recruiting classes
Ohio State Buckeyes: No. 11 Big Ten, No. 65 Nation
Zed Key 6’7 / 215 C:
At times the three-star center looked like a man among boys while playing for Long Island Lutheran High School. Standing 6’7 and weighing 215 pounds he was frequently able to get great position in the paint and finish thanks in part to his footwork. His body of work is much more impressive on the offensive end than on the defensive end. Things will become more difficult in the Big Ten as he will not be playing in the center position.
Eugene Brown III 6’6 / 186 SG:
While being the captain of Southwest DeKalb in his senior year, the three-star shooting guard averaged 16.6 ppg and 9.0 rpg, but, most telling is the 1.7 apg he managed to tally up. The reason? Brown III was not only the primary option on offense but at times seemed like the only option. Despite the defense being able to key in on him, Brown III still displayed his ability to make shots beyond the arc.
He does not demonstrate great creativity handling the ball and his perimeter defense versus smaller opponents is shaky at best, his composure and leadership are never in question. Even in the early season match-up with rival Tucker High School, despite the intensity of the game he never got caught up by forcing shots or over dribbling.
