5. Oklahoma Sooners

Few power conference teams will be under more pressure to land a quality 2021 recruiting class than Oklahoma, who’ll have to replace its two best players in Brady Manek and Austin Reeves after next season. They’ve already done some good work rebuilding the perimeter, adding sit-out transfers Elijah Harkless and Umoja Gibson this offseason. They and guard De’Vion Harmon will be a good backcourt to work with.

The frontcourt will be a much bigger question. Outside of Manek, the Sooners don’t have proven talent inside to work with. Freshmen Victor Iwuakor and Jalen Hill will have bigger roles for Oklahoma and the hope is that at least one of them can be a reliable rotation piece.

But whether it’s via the transfer portal or on the recruiting trail, the Sooners could really use someone like Collins to join the roster. He won’t have to compete for any playing time and could go for 25-30 mpg as a freshman. Collins also can get the ball and have a role in the offense and showcase his skills. Next to Houston, Oklahoma may provide the best opportunity for maximum playing time but I also would need to see who else the team adds in order to believe they’ll be a tournament contender in 2022.
