NCAA Basketball: 6 teams that should target Manhattan transfer Pauly Paulicap
St. Bonaventure Bonnies
The Bonnies return just about everyone from last year’s 19-win team, including all-conference talent Kyle Lofton and Osun Osunniyi. They, along with both Richmond and Dayton, will be fighting for the crown of the Atlantic 10 next season. St. Bonaventure could use a replacement for outgoing center Amadi Ikpeze, who started 12 games when Osunniyi was out injury.
If Paulicap would join the team, he and Osunniyi would form one of the best defensive interior duo in the country, blocking a ton of shots per game. And since the team is close to where the transfer is from, the “hometown” option of the Bonnies could be alluring for Paulicap.
St. John’s Red Storm
LJ Figueroa and Mustapha Heron’s departures create a massive hole in terms of offensive production. Rasheem Dunn, Marcellus Earlington, and Julian Champagnie will be back, along with George Washington grad transfer big man Arnaldo Toro to add needed size to the frontcourt.
While there’s a decent amount of frontcourt depth the Red Storm will have for next season, the question as to whether or not it’ll be good enough to get out of the bottom of the Big East. Paulicap can easily get a role in the rotation and with St. John’s being another local option, he could be a great late replacement for Figueroa.
The recruitment for Pauly Paulicap has only begun but with few options more talented, expect teams still with a frontcourt need will make a fullcourt press to land him. Expect some of these names, along with others to be involved in the process.
