NCAA Basketball: 10 teams that will be hurt most from fan-less games
Duke Blue Devils
People both near and far from Durham call them the “Cameron Crazies” for a reason, as arguably no fanbase provides a more intimidating in-person presence than those roaring behind coach Mike Krzyzewski and his world-famous Blue Devils during their home games. Although Cameron indoor stadium only seats just over 9,300 fans, those fans expand their presence with their ferocity and enthusiasm.
This extremely rowdy force loosely restrained by its gymnasium’s smaller dimensions even causes the entire arena to feel like an on over-filled water balloon, just one more person away from exploding all over the place. This formulates an incredibly tough environment for opposing players to find a grove and play their game.
But without the Crazies present, Duke’s basketball extravaganza reduces to just a typical gymnasium, unfortunately resembling a high-end high school basketball venue. This scenario forces Duke into a complete 180-degree turn from its typical basketball scene.
This obviously straps Duke into a tougher position than almost any other team, as this potential adjustment made by the NCAA forces them to digress by measures more substantial than almost everyone else.
