Boston College Eagles

The future looks bright for Boston College Basketball, well brighter than the past. Despite graduating Derryck Thompson (12.7 ppg) and Nik Popovic (10.5 ppg), the Eagles best players are sophomore forward Jairus Hamilton (9.5 ppg) and freshman Jay Heath (13.1 ppg). The question is, even with his new contract that goes throughout the 2021-22 season, will Coach Jim Chrisitan still be in Chestnut Hill?

In the six years (two more than Steve Donahue) Chrisitan has coached the Eagles they have failed to play .400 in ACC games. Chrisitan is one of, if not the coach who is first on the list of coaches who could be removed from their position during 2020-21. That fact alone increases the need for a strong 2021 class.

The obvious reason for Christian to have a strong 2021 class is because he needs good players in order to win basketball games in the ACC. The second reason is, it is not beneath players to transfer schools once the coach who recruited them is no longer coaching. It becomes even easier to de-commit from a school if you know that coach will not be there. If Christian is able to add a strong class to 2020 Demarr Langford, it might be enough incentive to give Chrisitan a chance to actually coach them.
