Virginia Tech Basketball: Analyzing Hokies potential 2020-21 rotation
By William Cash
Small Forwards
SF-1 Nahiem Alleyne
Alleyne is another one of those guys that can shoot the ball very well for Mike Young. Although he is undersized for the position, he still finds ways to score the basketball at a relatively high rate. Alleyne averaged eight points, two rebounds, and one assist on 38% from the field and 38% from three back in 2019. He’s another guy for the Hokies that was under herald coming out of a high school but made a name for himself for the Hokies. Alleyne stats are sure to increase this season as he will be one of the main scoring threats for Mike Young and the Hokies this year.
SF-2 Joe Bamisile
Bamisile was a four-star recruit and the No. 87 recruit overall nationally per 247SportsComposite Rankings. He will be another weapon for Mike Young as he has a great scoring touch and is a good shooter. He has a nice handle and a great feel for the game and averaged 28 points in his senior year of high school. Bamisile will be a star for the Hokies in the future and will contribute right away.
SF-3 Darius Maddox
Maddox is a guy like Alleyne that is versatile with his positions, based on his height and speed. Maddox can spread the floor as a Shooting Guard or Small Forward. The four-star recruit out of Oak Hill excels offensively at handling the ball and can finish well at the basket. He stands at 6″4 and 180 pounds and is another who can provide length for Mike Young. Look for Maddox to play at the wing when Mike Young decides to play small and push the pace.
SF-4 Gill Williamson
Williamson is one of two non-scholarship player on Tech’s roster this year. The 6’8 forward from Richmond, Virginia averaged nineteen points, seven rebounds, and three blocks during his senior season in High School. Williamson will replace Ryan Payne on the roster and become a motivator to the team, as well as, someone that could get minutes during lofty contests.
