Virginia Tech Basketball: Analyzing Hokies potential 2020-21 rotation

Power Forwards
PF-1 Justyn Mutts
Mutts continues the trend of highly touted transfers heading to Blacksburg in the fall. He averaged twelve points, eight rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block last year for the Blue Hens. The forward could rotate between the 4 and 5 for Mike Young depending on if they want to play small ball or go with a big man rotation. Mutts should help Tech’s rebounding drastically, as the Hokies ranked towards the bottom of the ACC in every rebounding category.
PF-2 Cordell Pemsl
Pemsl who comes to Blacksburg via transfer had an injury-riddled career at Iowa. Pemsl averaged two points, three rebounds, and one assist last year for the Hawkeyes. He will provide more size and experience for a Virginia Tech team that was one of the smallest and youngest teams in the NCAA last season.
PF-3 David N’Guessan
The three-star recruit out of Baltimore rounded out Mike Young’s 2021 recruiting class and will add more size and length to Virginia Tech’s roster. N’Guessan averaged 15 points, seven rebounds, and three assists at Mt. Zion Prep last season. His ability to shoot will see him get some minutes in the Mike Young’s rotation, as Tech’s main offensive production is off of three-pointers.
PF-4 Grant Yates
Yates is the other player without a scholarship on the Hokies roster. The walk-on transfer from Christopher Newport sat out last season for the Hokies. As a freshman Yates appeared in 18 games, scoring 17 points and recorded 11 rebounds as a freshman. He will look to provide more depth to the Hokies frontcourt
