Expectations for Preston in 2020-21

The Bobcats had a winning record for the first time since the 2016-2017 season a year ago. They also won their first MAC tournament game before the season was lost due to Covid-19. Ohio is going to head into the year with heightened expectations given the roster they have returning and the momentum they had going at the end of last year.

The season that Preston had should have warranted higher honors than second-team All-MAC. He is going to be looking for higher honors this year and is absolutely one of the best players in the league. The junior guard has his sites set on higher honors this year, mainly MAC first-team honors and MAC player of the year. Those are both attainable goals.

One other thing to watch for with the guard is the prospect of playing in the NBA. If Preston has another great season like the one, he had last year, he is going to likely test the draft waters. The junior can play in the NBA or professionally for a very long time.

Ohio, like many mid-major schools, does have another piece to pair with their star. The other piece to the puzzle for the Bobcats is fellow junior Ben Vander Plas. Vander Plas also averaged over 15 points per game last season. He is a great second option for Ohio and when on the floor with Preston the two of them make up one of the best duos in the MAC. That duo when teamed up with promising sophomore Lunden McDay there is a lot to be excited about heading into year two of the coach Boals era.
