G, Nah’Shon Hyland – VCU

Nah’Shon Hyland is VCU’s breakout candidate for the 2020-21 season. Hyland should have some big shoes to fill following the departure of Marcus Santos-Silva. Hyland is a dangerous long-range shooter who can connect well from beyond the three-line.

Prior to VCU, Hyland led St. Georges Tech of Wilmington, Delaware to the semifinals of the DIAA Boys Basketball Tournament in his senior season. Hyland was also named 2019 Delaware Player of the Year by USA Today and the Delaware Sportswriters and Broadcasters Association and is a two-time First Team All-State selection. The four-star recruit star guard was ranked No. 60 nationally in the class of 2019 by 247Sports.com.

Hyland had an impressive freshman season with the VCU Rams. Hyland played in all 31 games and made nine starts, including in the final seven contests of the season. Hyland ranked third in the A-10 in 3-point field goal percentage at .434 (63-of-145), a mark that is also tied for sixth in school single-season history. He currently holds a VCU freshman record with 63 three-pointers. Hyland ranked third in scoring on the team with 9.0 points per game and 11.0 in conference play. He was also named to the 2020 Atlantic-10 Conference All-Rookie Team.

Nah’Shon Hyland is already showing signs of greatness and a lot of young talent. VCU fans can expect a big year out of the strong three-point shooter.
