Atlantic 10 Basketball: Breakout candidates from each team for 2020-21

G, Tavian Dunn-Martin – Duquesne

Tavian Dunn-Martin is Duquesne’s breakout candidate for the 2020-21 season. Dunn-Martin is going into his junior year. He transferred to the Dukes after his freshman year at Akron. Dunn-Martin has been a veteran of this program and will be playing his third year for the Dukes this upcoming season.

Tavian Dunn-Martin attended Huntington High School in Huntington, West Virginia where he averaged 21.6 points and 3.1 assists per game as a senior. He was also named the 2015-16 Bill Evans Award winner where he joined Patrick Patterson (LA Clippers) and O.J. Mayo (former Milwaukee Bucks) as one of three Huntington HS grads to win the award.

Prior to Duquesne, Dunn-Martin attended Akron where he averaged 4.0 points and 1.1 assists in 10.6 minutes per game. He was also one of five players to see action in all 36 games. After one season he transferred to Duquesne.

As a sophomore, Dunn-Martin came off the bench in 28 of 32 games on his way to earning A-10 Sixth Man of the Year honors. Dunn-Martin averaged 7.8 points and 2.5 assists

Last season, he started the first 12 games, before coming off the bench for the final 18 games. He led the team in 3-point makes and attempts. He was third on the team in field goals attempted and second on the team with 74 assists. Dunn-Martin averaged 10.2 points and 2.5 assists.

Many can expect Tavian Dunn-Martin to have a big year for the Duquesne Dukes as they look to contend this upcoming season.
