Howard Bison

Makur Maker’s commitment to Howard only a few short weeks ago has sent shockwaves through the college basketball world. His decision has resulted in elite recruits from across the country and in multiple classes vocalizing strong support for the HBCU route and consideration for their own path through the Division 1 ranks. Despite the late offer, Howard made to Ingram, his inclusion of the school in his final six schools cannot be ignored.

Recently Howard has spent alternating seasons amongst the MEAC’s best and worst programs. The lack of consistency has been a thorn in the side for the Bison, but the arrival of Maker will assuredly vault the program into one of their best years in recent memory. Next season’s success will likely improve even more should Ingram step foot on campus.

While Maker’s presence significantly boosts many deficient areas on Howard’s team, i.e. rebounding, scoring, defense on both the interior and perimeter, Ingram’s commitment will assuredly attract more talent to the Bison. Ingram possesses the same traits that have made Maker such an attractive NBA prospect, but he is arguably a better offensive creator. He will make his teammates undeniably better and he is much further along in the recruiting process than Maker was at this comparative point.

The chance to recruit other players to the program will be an opportunity not previously afforded to the program. The chance to create a growing legacy and firm string of top talent attending HBCU programs is there for the taking. Ingram just has to be the next in line to make the jump.
