Oregon Ducks

Possibly the Pac-12’s most accomplished team in the last decade, Oregon is very familiar with proven guard play. Arguably one of their best, Payton Pritchard, was nationally recognized and thrived in a Duck uniform. He was an unrelenting on-court leader and produced in every way for Oregon. The torch is being passed to freshman Jalen Terry next season, but his likely presence on the 2021 team shouldn’t be a worry for Clark to join the program as well.

Coach Dana Altman has shown to run an effective system with multiple guards on the floor simultaneously. Specifically, Pritchard shared significant court time with friend and New Mexico transfer Anthony Mathis in the backcourt. The weakness in this area for the Ducks was the lack of a solid ball-handler on the roster behind Pritchard. Combining Terry with Clark would prevent any drop-off from occurring should the other need to sit for prolonged periods of time.

Outside of sharing the court with another strong point guard, Oregon’s offensive system is very much tailored towards guard play. The Ducks are very reliant on penetration into the middle of the defense to create for the rest of the team and can help Clark to show off an aspect of his game not as readily seen from his stat line. As he won’t have much issue getting to the rim at the college level, there will be ample opportunities for Clark to showcase all of his talents in Oregon.
