Tennessee State Tigers

It’s not a surprise to see an HBCU program making Skyy Clark’s list. With the move of Makur Maker sticking in people’s minds, more and more top players around the country have taken steps to leave their own footprint. Clark however has been very vocal and active in the events over the last several months, regarding the Black Lives Matter movement.

After transferring to Brentwood, Clark and his family peacefully protested the killing of George Floyd followed by Skyy’s own organizing of a cleanup event in the community following destruction from rioters.

Clark has proven to be a model individual outside of athletics, as much as he is within them. His traits as a person first would be instrumental in continuing the HBCU movement and elevating another program alongside Maker’s decision to attend Howard University. A lot of attention has been placed on the programs in the Ohio Valley Conference the last several years, with stars like Ja Morant at Murray State or the continued strong play of Belmont becoming thorns in the side of Power 5 teams come NCAA Tournament time.

Clark considering a program around his new home of Nashville, TN, and in a strong mid-major conference allows him to continue to invest in a rich basketball experience while continuing his community outreach.

Tennessee State would gladly welcome a player of Clark’s caliber and he will undoubtedly make the team better. The Tigers were a very efficient scoring team last season and ranked in the top-90 in all scoring areas, except free throw shooting. Clark can open the floor tremendously for his teammates, but his biggest impact is going to come on the defensive end. His addition will likely help Tennessee State cross the 20-win mark in 2021.
