What to expect from Cam Mack

It was mentioned above that Mack, when he is eligible, is going to step in a be the best player in the league. Mack would be one of the best players in any league he plays in, and that is going to be no exception in the SWAC. The Panthers should be familiar with watching the best player in the league play for their team as they are only two years removed now from All-SWAC performer Gary Blackston.

The incoming guard fills up the stat sheet almost every night. He is a great rebounder and he is an electric passer. He already has one triple-double on his college resume, but more are going to come. He is too dynamic of a player not to. Mack is one of the fastest guards I have ever seen he can get up and down the floor quickly and he uses that same speed to blow by defenders on his way to the basket. He is going to make sure his teammates are set up to score. I watched every second of every Nebraska game a year ago and there is not a pass on the floor that Cam cannot make.

The issues off the court are there for Mack and the hope is that now that he is close to home and close to those who matter to him, his mother, that the off the court issues are a thing of the past. When the guard is comfortable and in rhythm, it will make the Panthers that much different of a team. At Nebraska, there were many times at the end of the year that it appeared he was not engaged and was very lackadaisical.

Many coaches, media members, and especially NBA scouts would like to see Mack curb that so he can reach his full potential. On the court, Mack is not a great free throw shooter and for a player who gets the rim as much as he does, that can be a huge flaw. He is also an extremely streaky shooter from the outside, but when he is going well, he can score points quickly.

After one time watching the guard play, the Panther fans are going to fall in love with him. His energy and smile are infectious. He plays the game with a swagger that many don’t, and his swag is the kind that is going to make Prairie View fans love him and the opponents and coaches loathe him. His energy comes to the rest of the team as well.

Last season when he was going well and was engaged Nebraska was a much better team, even though the Huskers were one of the worst teams in the country, Mack showed that his energy will transfer to other players and help them step their games up.
