Kansas Jayhawks – Are Garrett and Ogbaji ready for bigger roles?

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before, but Bill Self and Kansas are going to be really good this season. Devon Dotson and big man Udoka Azubuike are off to the NBA, so this year’s team is bound to look a little different.

The Jayhawks welcome in a couple of highly-touted guards in Bryce Thompson, a 6’5 combo that can play both backcourt positions and was ranked as the 21st best prospect in the country by 247sports. He will be joined by Tyon-Grant Foster, a lengthy shooting guard at 6’7 who played last season at Indian Hills Community College and was the No. 2 ranked junior college prospect in the country.

But, the biggest question for me when it comes to the Jayhawks concerns a couple of 6’5 returning guards, Ochai Agbaji and Marcus Garrett. While these two had productive seasons last year, averaging 10 and 9.2 respectively and Garrett adding 4.5 rebounds and a team-high 4.6 assists, with Dotson gone are these two ready to take on an increased role this season as a bigger part of the offense?

Kansas will have a successful season, but if either or both of Garrett and Agbaji can step into a bigger role, Kansas could once again cut down the nets.
