Pac-12 Basketball: Biggest question for each team entering 2020-21 season
Arizona State – Can Marcus Bagley make an immediate impact?
Arizona State was one of the big winners of the NBA early entry deadline when guards Remy Martin and Alonzo Verge, Jr. both decided to return to school. But the news wasn’t all good for Bobby Hurley and the Sun Devils this summer, senior forward Romello White decided to transfer to Mississippi for his final season, leaving senior Kimani Lawrence and junior Taeshon Cherry as the only contributors in the frontcourt that saw significant time last season.
In need of some frontcourt depth, a big question for the Sun Devils is where is that depth going to come from? One of the best recruits Arizona State landed this summer was 6’7 small forward Marcus Bagley from Sacramento.
He is the younger brother of former Duke star and current Sacramento Kings forward Marvin Bagley and averaged nearly 20 points and eight rebounds for Sheldon High, making the Division I championship where they fell to powerhouse Sierra Canyon.
Bagley is a big-time athlete who can score and get out in transition and defend, if he can come in and make an immediate impact in the Arizona State frontcourt it will help the depth at the position and help in filling the void left by White’s surprise transfer.
