1. Villanova is set up well to win right now

Simply put, Villanova is in remarkable shape for continued success and Wright is responsible for that. We can go on about the talented players he’s brought to Villanova, turning Ryan Arcidiacono, Jalen Brunson, and many more into national champions along the way. Wright’s on-court coaching has also been extremely important, and it’s a major reason Villanova is getting high praise in the preseason.

This Villanova team is set up well for next season and will enter the season alongside Creighton as favorites to win the league. Senior guard Collin Gillespie gets his final shot at another national title while sophomore forward Jeremiah Robinson-Earl returns to the school after flirting with the NBA Draft process. Justin Moore and Jermaine Samuels also return after average double-digits in scoring last season.

With much of last season’s talent returning, with the exception of All-Big East forward Saddiq Bey, Villanova is set up well to take a step forward. Many early projections have the Wildcats as a top 5 team and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Villanova land a 1-seed in the 2021 NCAA Tournament, something they’ve done three times since 2015.

It also must be said that Wright’s coaching plays a big role in this program’s success and he’d likely want to see things through with this talented group of players.
