NCAA Basketball: Examining all 12 programs in play for four-star Blake Wesley
Kansas State Wildcats
The rebuild is underway for the Wildcats, adding an eight-man recruiting class featuring four-star point guard Nijel Pack. Without a clear go-to scorer, there’s an opportunity for Wesley to come in and have a major role as a freshman. Kansas State is miles away from competing for an NCAA Tournament bid but this top-100 off-guard can help accelerate the process.
Louisville Cardinals
The perimeter for Louisville going forward features a ton of combo guards, including sophomore David Johnson, class of 2021 JUCO star El Ellis and freshman guard D’Andre Davis. The team already has a pair of future commits in wing Eric van der Heijden and point guard Bobby Pettiford, Jr. Adding Wesley adds to the depth of a strong ACC program but he’ll definitely have to compete for playing time in his first couple of seasons.
Maryland Terrapins
Head coach Mark Turgeon has done a very good job developing guards that have come through the program, including the returning trio (Darryl Morsell, Eric Ayaya, and Aaron Wiggins) for next season. Two of them are only juniors, so Wesley will have to fight for playing time early on, along with early top-100 shooting guard commit Ike Cornish. With Julian Reese and James Graham also part of the 2021 recruiting class, Welsey would be the proverbial cherry on top.
